During the campaign, President-elect Donald Trump insisted that he was opposed to the war in Iraq from the beginning, despite footage from 2002 showing otherwise.
But as he plans his national security team, Trump is reportedly considering many boosters of the war, such as former CIA Director James Woolsey and former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, according to Reuters.

Frank Fietz, a former Bolton aide, is also helping with Trump's transition, despite the fact Fietz worked in the CIA unit that validated claims about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction.
Another supporter of the Iraq War in consideration is former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is also in the running Secretary of State according to CNN.
The dispute about who to select devolved into “a knife fight” as one source told CNN.
In addition, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama, who voted for going to war in Iraq, is being considered for secretary of Defense.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who has frequently criticized the hawks in his party, released an op-ed asking whether Trump would "betray" voters by appointing Bolton.
"Bolton is a longtime member of the failed Washington elite that Trump vowed to oppose," Paul wrote, calling Bolton "hell-bent on repeating virtually every foreign policy mistake the U.S. has made in the last 15 years — particularly those Trump promised to avoid as president."
